Terms of use
Please read these terms carefully before using our school portals or digital services.
These are template terms of use. Demo Secondary School has not yet published its own terms. The text below is a platform-provided template shown for reference — it is not the school's authored legal document.
These terms of use govern your access to and use of the website, student portal, parent portal, learning platform and any other digital service provided by or on behalf of Demo Secondary School (together, "Services").
These terms form a binding agreement between the school and each user of our Services. Users who are minors must have a parent or guardian review and agree to these terms on their behalf.
1. Acceptance of terms
- By enrolling a student at the school or by using any school portal, application or digital service, you agree to be bound by these terms of use.
- These terms apply to students, parents, guardians and anyone else who uses school-provided digital services.
- We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of school services after notice of changes means you accept the revised terms.
- If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our online services.
2. Student obligations
- Students must use the school's digital platforms only for legitimate educational purposes.
- Students must not share their sign-in details with anyone. Lost or stolen sign-in details must be reported to the school immediately.
- Students are expected to behave respectfully in all digital interactions with teachers, classmates and school staff.
- Creating, sharing or holding inappropriate, abusive or unlawful content through school platforms is prohibited and may lead to suspension or exclusion.
- Students must follow the school's academic integrity policy. Plagiarism, cheating or unauthorised help in work submitted through digital platforms is misconduct.
- Students must attend classes as scheduled and use the timetable and attendance systems honestly. Falsified attendance records are a disciplinary offence.
3. Parent and guardian responsibilities
- Parents and guardians are responsible for making sure their child uses school digital services in a safe, supervised environment, especially younger students.
- Parents must keep their contact details up to date in the school system so they receive important communications.
- Fees must be paid by the stated deadlines. The school may suspend portal access for accounts with balances outstanding beyond the agreed grace period.
- Parents are responsible for reading communications sent through the parent portal and responding to school requests within a reasonable time.
- Parents must not try to access or change student records by unauthorised means. Corrections must go through official channels.
- Consent given at enrolment for the use of student data is the parent's or guardian's responsibility. Withdrawal of consent must be made in writing.
4. Acceptable use of digital services
- All users must use school digital services in line with the law of the country the School is established in and applicable international rules.
- Users must not try to gain unauthorised access to any part of the school's information systems, including other students' or staff records.
- Users must not upload, send or store malware or any harmful code on school systems.
- Excessive or disruptive use of bandwidth or system resources is prohibited.
- Recording, photographing or reproducing live teaching sessions without the teacher's explicit permission is not allowed.
- The school's name, logo and branding must not be used in any external publication or social-media post without prior written approval from the school.
5. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
- The school makes every effort to keep the information on its website and portals accurate, but does not guarantee that all content is error-free or up to date at all times.
- The school is not liable for loss or damage arising from temporary unavailability of online services due to maintenance, technical failure or circumstances beyond its control.
- Links to third-party resources are provided for convenience only. The school does not endorse or take responsibility for content on external sites.
- Results and academic data shown in the portal are provisional until formally verified and released by the school.
- The school's maximum liability for any claim related to these terms does not exceed the fees paid for the student concerned in the current term.
6. Intellectual property
- Materials produced by the school — curriculum documents, lesson content, assessments and branding — are the school's intellectual property.
- Students keep ownership of original work they produce, but grant the school a non-exclusive licence to display or reproduce it for educational and promotional purposes.
- Unauthorised reproduction or commercial use of school materials is prohibited.
- Digital learning materials on the learning platform are licensed for individual student use and must not be shared, redistributed or published.
Fees, payments and refunds
School fees are payable in advance at the start of each term by the stated deadline. Late payment may attract an administrative charge on the outstanding balance. Fees are non-refundable once a term has started, except where a student withdraws for reasons the school accepts, in which case a pro-rated refund may be considered.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the country in which the School is established. Any dispute arising from them should first be referred to the school's formal complaints procedure. If that does not resolve it, disputes are settled by the competent courts of that country.
